Conference Theme: Working with the Struggling Writer
Do you have a successful teaching technique or an assignment that you’re
willing to share with colleagues? We are seeking interactive workshops that illustrate best practices in our
classrooms for teaching writers who are struggling to succeed in their
first-year writing classes. These workshops may focus on any aspect of
first-year writing, including, but not limited to
Curriculum-design focus:
- researched writing
- collaborative writing
- grammar and mechanics
- rhetorical or literary analysis
- writing in the disciplines
- reflective writing
- multimedia writing
- the reading-writing connection
- summary writing
- effective use of technology
- imbedding organizational skills into assignment design

Proposals: We
invite 250-word proposals for 75-minute workshops that consider some aspect of the
conference theme. Your proposal must show how the audience will be involved. Please include a title but no identifying information.
On a cover sheet, include your name, address, phone,
fax, email, and affiliation, together with a 25-word abstract of the presentation proposal.
Equipment:Please be specific about the type of equipment your workshop will require (i.e.
computer and projector with internet access, flip chart and markers, overhead
projector, etc.)
