CONNECT (2004-2008):
- Identified Common Outcome Goals for First-Year English at five
colleges—Bridgewater State College, Bristol Community College, Cape Cod
Community College, Massasoit Community College, and the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth
- Held 1st Connect Composition Conference at Bristol
Community College (2005)
- Presented program at the Conference on College Composition and
Communication in Chicago and the NEASC/NEAAN Assessment Conference at Southern
Maine Community College in South Portland, ME
- Led a workshop at the 9th Annual Community College
Conference on Teaching and Learning and Student Development in Worcester
- Presented current work at Bridgewater State College’s CART
Celebration and at the NECIT Conference at UMass Boston (2006, 2007)
- Held 2nd Annual Connect Composition Conference at UMass
Dartmouth (2006)
- Compiled information for an instructors’ resource handbook that
is now available on CD
- Received a $40,000 grant from the Calderwood Foundation to be
applied toward an Online Resource Guide
- Led workshop at the New England Faulty Development Consortium (2206)
- Presented current work at the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) in New York (2007)
- Added a sixth college to the CONNECT Writing Group: Massachusetts Maritime Academy
- Held 3rd Annual Composition Conference at Cape Cod Community College (2007)
- Launched the CONNECT Writing Group's web site (http://www.connectsemass.org/writing) (2007)
- Gave presentation at the New England Center for Inclusive Teaching (2006, 2007)
- Led workshop and panel for the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) in New Orleans (2008)
- 4th Annual Composition Conference held at Massasoit Community College (2008)
CONNECT (2008-2009):
- Plan the 5th Annual Composition Conference to be held at Bridgewater State College (2009)
- Consider e-portfolios for transfer students
- Outreach to selected high school English Department chairs
- Initiate campus discussions, including writing in other disciplines (across curriculum)
- Contribute to the handbook and online resource guide
- Consider the assessment issue (possible conversations with NEASC)
- Address assessment of he CONNECT Writing Project
- Present CONNECT activities at one national conference (CCCC) and at least one regional conference each year
- Travel to regional colleges to present our program
- Apply the $40,000 Calderwood Foundation Grant to fund web development and support co-editors for the Online Resource Guide
- Work on the CONNECT Writing Group's Book Project
